Rev. Junnen Asunam Pope is a Shingon Buddhist Monk, a Reiki Master, and Director of the Reiki FoundationTM. He has also been Ordained as a Minister, and Healer / Counselor by the Interfaith Church and Ministry; the Church of Tzaddi. His experience as a Minister of Natural Healing encompasses several modalities in addition to Reiki, and as such he uses an integrated approach, which allows him to serve the varying needs of each person, treating them as a unique individual with specific wellness goals. His work focuses on assisting people in restoring their health and wellness physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually.

His extensive training in holistic disciplines, including studies in Japan, has helped him to develop a completely versatile palette of modalities for helping people.

Rev. Pope has worked successfully with many people facing the challenges of cancer (ovarian, lung, etc., and the detrimental affects of some cancer treatments), chronic fatigue syndrome, arthritis, immune dis-orders, vasculitis, the affects of multiple sclerosis, stress, insomnia, low energy and waning vitality.

In the area of counseling, Rev. Junnen Asunam Pope has assisted individuals in successfully navigating the trials of life transitions such as: career changes, maintaining balanced intimate relationships, moving forward after separation and/or divorce, grief counseling, and developing the path of a spiritual lifestyle. He has helped many people to lead more effective and happier lives, by helping them to organize their own personal goals (and their lives), the ways and means to arrive at success (and the steps to getting there), and how to not lose sight of living life in a meaningful and fulfilling way.

Energetic balancing sessions (Reiki) and Counseling sessions can take place either in person, by phone, and /or by email depending on location and needs.

DONNA BABIN-ALAVARCES
FULLY TRAINED REIKI MASTER

Donna Babin-Alavarces' first contact with Asian disciplines took place through her studies in Japanese Goju-ryu. She then spent 25 years in martial arts, and became a Yodan Renshi 4th Degree Black Belt. Donna learned Buddhist and Taoist meditation as part of her martial arts practices; and thus continued to develop spiritually. In the year 2000 she began practicing the healing arts, and in particular, the Japanese Healing system known as Reiki. She has since become a Professional Reiki Practitioner and Mastery Apprentice under the guidance and auspices of Rev. Junnen Asunam Pope, Shingon Buddhist Monk, and Director of the Reiki FoundationTM.

In the year 2000 she began practicing the healing arts, and in particular, the Japanese Healing system known as Reiki. She has since become a Professional Reiki Practitioner, a Mastery Apprentice; and in August 2006 - arrived at the level of a Fully Trained Reiki Master under the guidance and auspices of Rev. Junnen Asunam Pope, Shingon Buddhist Monk, and Director of the Reiki FoundationTM.

Donna is the NYC Regional Administrator for the Reiki FoundationTM. In this capacity she will coordinate and arrange Reiki Trainings at all degree levels, as well as serving the tri-state area communities in an educational and informational manner. Donna is also the Assistant Director of Education for the Reiki FoundationTM.

Donna will also be providing her services as a Professional Reiki Practitioner to those wishing to pursue their "healing journey" on an individual "by appointment" basis. Her skills in counseling will also be available to those who are facing varying challenges emotionally, mentally, and spiritually.

Her goal is to help individuals arrive at their birthright of innate balance. She specializes in stress reduction, anger management, and weight loss issues.

MIKE LIUZZO
REIKI MASTER APPRENTICE
and Professional Reiki Practitioner


Mike Liuzzo arrived at the healing arts via the martial arts, starting with Karate in 1978. This was the beginning of a long and valuable foundation upon which to build the healing arts that he practices today.

Mike studied a Korean style, or hard style Karate as it is called, making his way through the ranks eventually arriving at Master Rank. Mike then trained in Kempo Goju, a Chinese style, in which he holds the degree of Master level.

Subsequently Mike began exploring Tai Chi. He began working with a renowned Tai Chi instructor, who later, accepted him as an apprentice student. It was here he learned the importance of relaxation.

Eventually, Mike began teaching Tai Chi. One day, during which he and his class were doing a light touch drill, a woman brought it to his attention that she felt he had a healing touch. Not too much later, he was at a health fair in Pennsylvania where he met Rev. Junnen Asunam Pope. At the fair, he went through a 20 minute Reiki session with Rev. Junnen Asunam Pope and as Mike recalls the session he comments: "it was as if all the cells in my body were awakened!

In the year 2001 he began practicing the Japanese Healing system known as Reiki, and in addition - simultaneously began his training in Shiatsu. Mike has since become a Professional Reiki Practitioner, and a Mastery Apprentice under the guidance and auspices of Rev. Junnen Asunam Pope, Shingon Buddhist Monk, and Director of the Reiki FoundationTM.

Mike is one of a select few who are authorized to work as a Professional Reiki Practitioner on site at the Reiki FoundationTM offices located in Carbondale, PA. Mike is also an official Mastery Apprentice, studying for his certification as a Reiki Master under the strict guidelines of the Reiki FoundationTM.

Mike is also the PA Regional Administrator for the Reiki FoundationTM. In this capacity he will coordinate and arrange Reiki Trainings at all degree levels, as well as serving the Pennsylvania area communities in an educational and informational manner. He is also one of the Assistant Directors of the Reiki FoundationTM.

Mike will be providing his services as a Professional Reiki Practitioner to those wishing to pursue their "healing journey" on an individual "by appointment" basis. His skills and background as a Professional Shiatsu / Bodywork Practitioner will blend in seamlessly with his work as a Professional Reiki Practitioner; and will be available to those who are facing varying challenges that require such skills.

His goal is to help individuals arrive at health, wellness, and balance - as holistically as possible.

What is REIKI?

Reiki is a Japanese healing art that was drawn from Buddhist, Shinto, and Taoist traditions, and synthesized into a palatable system, by a Japanese gentleman named Mikao Usui.

The term "REI" in this context means "from the higher spiritual realms", and "KI" means "vital life force and/or energy." Thus Reiki means the principle of life force energy from the higher spiritual realms.

In Reiki, the healing energy or dynamic, is allowed to flow into the practitioner, and then the practitioner acts as a vehicle through which this energy can be passed onto another individual via the hands.

A Reiki treatment restores balance and harmony to the person and their body, bringing about a greater sense of wholeness and relaxation. A Reiki treatment occurs with the client fully clothed, as Reiki can transcend materials of many kinds. The treatment itself generally feels very relaxing, thereby providing the client with a meditative state of awareness, which can assist in the body's healing process.

The Reiki practitioner does not "heal" the person receiving Reiki, but provides an additional emphasis of "life energy" that assists in an individuals healing process. Thus, the healing, so to speak, is derived from the "Universal life force" that flows through the practitioner. A practitioner of this healing art does not become drained of their own "life energy", but actually is replenished in the process. Additionally, since the practitioner acts as a vehicle in which the energy flows in, through, and then out; there is no chance of the practitioner taking on the pain and dysfunction of another person.

How is REIKI learned?

The art of Reiki is transmitted from "Master" to "student" through a specific and exact set of energetic processes, which facilitate a subtle, yet powerful transformative effect. The aspect of instruction, regarding how to "do" Reiki, is also handled by the "Master Teacher." Students are provided with background, techniques, and then actual hands-on practice under the guidance of a qualified "Master." This is the traditional format under which one learns Reiki. Almost anyone has the ability to learn Reiki, but how adept one is certainly will vary from person to person, as with any other pursuit in life.

Finding a Practitioner

Practitioners and Teachers are both growing into a new level of maturity, and anyone seeking either treatment and/or training in Reiki would be well advised to focus on those who have established such criteria for their organization and their practitioners. All consumers need to use a normal level of discretion by taking the time to ask pertinent questions regarding such items as: length of training and involvement with Reiki, degree of training, length of time in practice, professional affiliation, and experience in assisting in particular disorders.

Although Reiki has is basis in specific "spiritual disciplines", it is - not a religion or belief system. Reiki is the energy that is life itself. One does not have to believe in Reiki for it to actually work, only to desire healing and wellness. The spiritual / philosophical aspects of Reiki blend easily with any other belief systems that an individual may hold for him or her self. This is evident by the variety of Reiki practitioners and Masters, throughout the world.

The Reiki FoundationTM

The Reiki FoundationTM was established to transmit in the most concise and comprehensive form the truth, teaching, tradition, and spirit of Reiki. This means the creation of recognizable and consistent standards of education, training, and indoctrination into Reiki, of the highest qualitative level.

The Directing Charter Members of the FoundationTM have been to Japan for training, study, research, and indoctrination into the traditions that Reiki essentially emanates from.

Since Reiki was drawn from the Japanese Esoteric Buddhist tradition, the Reiki FoundationTM will also act as a repository of the Dharma teachings. As this is often the case, we will seek to transmit the Buddhist teachings within the framework of Reiki (to show relevance), as well as separately - in the more traditional Dharmic setting.

The FoundationTM sees all Dharma paths as manifestations of compassion and wisdom - the main directive, which is liberation and spiritual enlightenment for all sentient beings.

The Basic core of our curriculum establishes individuals in the active "practice" of the Bodhisattva principle and ideal, through the true understanding and use of Reiki, as an act of compassion.

Later, upon seeking out a path of Mastery (if one is called to such a path), and making a commitment, detailed training will take place under the guidance of a qualified Sensei.

The FoundationTM is conscientiously determining how we may best serve humanity, and the community of Reiki. We are also creating an honorable forum in which to appropriately disseminate pertinent data that has been compiled. In this way others may share in our mission.
